The former is suitable for standard low- to medium-pressure piping, while the latter is primarily used for small-bore, higher-pressure lines; selection should be based on bore size, pressure, temperature, and welding requirements.

Size Range: ASME B16.5 generally covers NPS 1/2–24; Class 2500 flanges apply up to NPS 12. Specific flange types may not cover all size-pressure combinations; consult the corresponding dimension tables.
Pressure Ratings: Class 150, 300, 400, 600, 900, 1500, 2500, or selected according to the corresponding PN series; allowable pressure-temperature ratings vary based on material group and operating temperature.
